STD Screening/Testing
Where You Can Get Checked

All of the contact you have with any health care professional is confidential and they must have your permission to give your information to others. However, some STDs are contagious enough that no matter where you are tested it is reported to the state and they will verify that you have been treated.
Remember, you have to ask for the tests no matter where you go to get checked. They don't routinely check just because you went to the doctor.
The Health Department in most cities will provide testing and treatment at reduced rates or free of charge if you don't have insurance. HIV testing is usually free. They are experts in counseling as well.
Testing for Minors (Less than 18 years of age) Some states allow minors to seek testing without parental consent. You can call your local health department to find out about their guidelines.
